we had aerobics in the am and another activity nung afternoon in regards pa rin to our week's topic finding meaning in life. so ayon! nung am session nakakatuwa kasi majority participated in tae bo so ayon even i nag enjoy sa exercise kasi napaka active ng mga kasama ko especially the female residents. but infairness to the males active din naman sila doing their own exercise (lifting dumbells) so ayon! in the afternoon naman as mentioned earlier we had another activity. ayon! sir al recapulate the previous days activity about our gifts and passion as key ingredients in finding meaning in life. so ayon after that he asked everybody to come up with a vision mission for themselves. after that some shared their vision mission ayon! it was a very fruitful sharing activity dahil i never expected na may mga ilan sa kanila na talagang may clear cut view sila sa mga bagay na talagang gusto nila ma-attain sa buhay nila. once again they prove me wrong sa first impression ko na pag may condition ang tao medyo uncertain sila when it comes to their wants in life. so ayon! at this point talaga after being with them in more than two weeks napatunayan ko na talagang yung condition lang nila yung nagseseparate sa kanila from the rest of people but when you get to know them and when you talked to them malalaman mo na yung condition is just a label dahil mga tao silang may malalim na pagkatao and they are just like the rest of us.

ayon! we had a new sharing activity ulit in regards with the same topic finding meaning in life. ayon! napaka fruitful ng discussion kasi same as yesterday everybody participated well. tapos naging easy yung communication namin with them kasi yung mga residents na mismo yung nag-iinitiate ng talk. tapos once again may natutunan nanaman ako bago kay kuya _____ about yung natural wild na nacame across daw niya sa isang book. ayon! he was so brilliant talaga kasi ang dami dami niyang alam plus tuwing nagsasalita siya nagiging easy yung facilitating namin dahil sa mga raised questions ng ibang residents siya yung nagproprovide ng answers and not just answers yung mga binibigay niyang thought is very brilliant and makatotohanan talaga sa buhay ng tao. so ayon! once again we had a very succesful and fruitful day. so once again thanks to you kuya _____ for actively participating with us everyday. thanks a lot!

Today is the first day of our final week. Ayon! Medyo nakakalungkot na kasi malapit na mag-end yung stay namin here at LCRC so ayon! Today may bago kaming theme na inintroduce sa mga residents. It’s all about finding meaning in life. Prior to introducing the theme to them we had an activity ayon! Nag-post si sir Al ng malaking question mark sa white board and ininstruct sila to write down kung ano yung first thoughts that came in their minds nung nakita nila yung question mark. Ayon everybody participated and they all give answers. Ayon I was so happy looking at them kasi going back to our first week hindi pa sila ganoon ka-compliant but then sa few days lang yung transformation ng attitude nila towards us is very evident. Ayon! After the activity we had a little sharing about each and everyone’s life. I was touched kasi may isang guy ang nag share about his former inmate sa LCRC. Na touch ako in a way that ganun niya bigyan ng pagpapahalaga yung naging friendship nila, tapos he added pa na sa buhay niya doon sa loob yung mga naging kaibigan niya ang naging meaning and back up sa buhay niya. Nakakatouch kasi hindi ko ineexpect na ganun siya kasi medyo snob looking and dominant siya yun pala deep down napaka softhearted and caring niya. Ayon! Overall naging napaka meaningful ng activity na ginawa naming kasi all opened up and share thoughts about their passion in life.

Uhmm..ayon! Today is my first Saturday at LCRC. Ayon the residents had their sketching in the morning and movie watching in the afternoon. Ayon! We watched reign over me starring Adam Sandler. After the movie watching the residents shared some insights in regards with the movie and how is it related with our theme for the week which is creating happiness and joy in life. I was so happy because majority gave very brilliant answers to the questions we’ve passed on them. Ayon! But the most highlighted person that day was kuya _____ because he was able to nail down the exact answers we are looking for. And as observed from the previous days pa I can really say na kuya _____ is really smart kasi everytime we have our discussions he never fails to give his opinion and suggestions about many things. In fact pag nagsasalita siya talagang nakukuha niya yung entire attention ko dahil marami siyang sinasabi na bago sa akin and natutuwa ako dahil natutunan ko yun because of him. So ayon! Overall maganda yung araw na to for me kasi hindi lang ako nag enjoy kundi natuto pa ako. So ayon! Today we had our 2nd culminating activity and at the same time summer fun party. Ayon! Same as the previous masasabi ko na total fun itong araw na to. The residents performed two dance numbers and they were so great. They danced galaw-galaw sa tag-araw and happy by Alexia. It was a very successful program kasi all gave their best shot. Ayon! After the program we had a little party nag-share kami ng pika pika (fish balls, kikiam and nachos) and then we also had ice cream from our guest mamang sorbetero. So ayon! Once again may napatunayan nanaman yung mga residents na inspite the condition and drowsy meds they can still perform and show their talents the best way the could.

Ayon! A very special guest came to visit us si tito Pepito from Sigla. He facilitated the whole activity from AM-PM. He taught us Filipino exercises that he had developed. Ayon it was fun kasi we learned a lot from him. We discovered that age is not only measured by numbers but also in colors. Ayon! Nakakatuwa kasi may age color din pala hehe! Tapos yung mga exercise pa na ginawa namin hindi ganon ka-technical but then halos lahat ng part ng body namin nag function. Ayon! Tapos, yung highlight sa mga ginawa naming activity is yung nag outdoor kami ng mga residents and then tito Pepito introduced an activity using a bamboo pole and some colored cloths. Ayon it was fun kasi upon watching the residents do the activity matutuwa ka talaga sa kanila because they all look brilliant and they followed exactly what has been instructed to them. They were all compliant kaya super fun and successful halos lahat ng araw and activity na ginagawa namin. Overall masasabi ko na super fun talaga yung mga araw na dumadaan sa buhay ko dahil araw-araw may natutunan ako sa mga taong nakakahalubilo ko doon sa loob ng LCRC and yung mga moments ko with the residents is really something na hindi ko malilimutan dahil everytime na nakikita at nakakausap ko sila they never fail to give me inspiration and life lessons na hindi ko inakalang sa kanila ko matututunan. At first you may see them as people with conditions but when you get to really know them malalaman mo na may depth yung totality ng kanilang pagkatao.

uhmm..one word to describe this day...
FUN! so ayon fun kasi sobrang masaya ako sa nangyari sa araw na to. firstly we had an activity nung morning it was about the principles of happiness. at first medyo nahirapan ako to facilitate with my group kasi ang instructions are discuss with them the principles that we have in our hands and come up with a role play. ayon! yung assigned sa group namin is about Happiness is growth. kung titignan madali lang iexplain e! kaso nagkadownfall ako sa group ko when one of member told me na "i cant act that because personally im not happy" from that word narattle agad ako but tnry ko pa din siya ipersuade and i was so happy na after talking about different things napapayag ko din siya to share her insights with me. and her answers add up more happiness to me kasi she nailed down the exact explanation i was looking for. so ayon upon hearing that natuwa ako masyado because i never expected na the woman in front of me will give me such a brilliant answer. nakakatuwa dahil siya yung unang una na nagsabi na she can't explain happiness but then she nailed the exact explanation of the principle i have at hand. ayon! after discussing naging okay na yung flow ng talk kaso may isa pa rin akong problem hindi pa sila nag-aagree to act in a role play kasi daw hindi nila expertise yun. so ayon! the first three groups finished their part and its our turn na. ayon kinausap ko si sir Al na hindi mag-aact yung group ko but instead magbibigay na lang sila ng individual testimony about sa happiness is growth but i was so shocked kasi last minute bigla sila nagcomply to make an act although very brief lang yung ginawa natuwa pa din ako dahil in the end nagcomply sila. so ayon i feel relieved after that and before we part in the AM session i thanked them for doing that and for participating w/ me. so ayon! before i turn my back i smiled dahil from hindi nila pag-agree at first tapos bigla nila ako sinurprise when they decided to act natuwa talaga ako. so ayon! moving on. nung afternoon naman it was still a blast kasi after our movie watching (pursuit of happiness) may pnrepare kaming program dahil birthday ni sir Al ayon ang saya saya dahil we never expected na ganun kalalabasan ng program. kasi prior to that medyo nahirapan kami kung sino sa mga residents yung mag-paparticipate and it was so shocking dahil nung moment na andun na kami sa program proper majority of them stood up and participated with us. ayon sobrang saya. then after that nag-games kami stop dance sobrang nakakatuwa dahil ang taas ng energy na pinakita ng mga residents and they all look so good dancing in the session hall. so ayon! overall the entire program plan was a success and its all because of them. without their participation the program will be dull pero they surprise us a lot and i thanked them all for that. so ayon! after that time in LCRC i head home with a smile dahil hindi ko makalimutan yung binigay na support ng mga residents to make our program a success. so to all of you guys maraming salamat!

6th Day

uhmm..ayon! i came at LCRC at 3PM actually half day lang ako kasi we had an orientation sa school so ayon! anyway, pagdating ko sa LCRC diretso kami agad sa loob kasi activity time na namin. so ayon! we had an activity about suitable goals and using suitable means to achieve happiness. prior our activity we had a dance activity para sa magiging presentation namin on friday sa culminating activity. ayon ang saya kasi the residents are the one who choreograph the moves nilagyan lang ni sir Al ng konting flair hehe! ayon! during the activity naging maganda yung flow kasi the residents are participating well. may mga broad ideas sila na nakakatulong sa amin na lalong maenhance yung topic under discussion. ayon! so far sa almost 1 week stay ko dito s LCRC masasabi ko na everyday may mga bago akong natututunan from the residents. lalo ako ngayon nagiging interested in knowing them more kasi kapag naririnig ko yung mga thoughts nila somehow namomove ako and tumataas yung motivation ko dahil sa pinapakita nilang feedback.

we had an activity in the AM and i was so happy kasi i think sa buong week na dumaan yung activity namin nung araw nato was the best. me, jat, jobelle and noreen were the facilitator that AM. we had an ice breaker "shagidy shapopo" and it was so fun and i loved it. after that jat gave the activity about time capsule. ayon! we ask the participants to write down their worries in the future and frustrations in the past tapos we divided the residents into 3 groups ayon! in each group included kami nila noreen & jobelle tapos sa kanya kanya naming group nakipagdiscuss kami sa kasama naming residents. masaya ako kasi sa kampante na ako sa pakikipag-usap sa kanila the same way ganun din sila sa amin. we shared our stories even i opened up with them. nakakatuwa kasi halos pareho kami ng mga frustrations and worries. so ayon! overall naging maganda yung run ng activity namin tapos sir Al wrap it up. ayon! masaya ako kasi i was also moved by our activity kasi personally may mga issues din ako about worries and frustrations and because of our activity i learned to let it go. ayon! sabi nga ni sir Al we should be living in the here and now. so from this day on i will savor and start living each day. que sera sera hehe!

we had praise & worship in the morning with pastor Paul and movie watching in the afternoon. ayon! nung AM we learn 3 new songs and it was very uplifting and i love it! so ayon! ang highlight ng day na to is we meet with doc Randy ayon sobrang masaya kasi doc Randy discussed with us about dream therapy and i was so lucky kasi i was given the chance to ask him about my dream. during our discussion kinakabahan ako kasi yung dream ko nakakatakot and natatakot ako na baka masama din yung ibig sabihin nun. in the end nagkaron sa akin ng linaw yung message ng dream ko and i felt relieved. together with my dream nadiscuss ko din with doc Randy yung isang issue sa buhay ko na hindi ko malimutlimutan it was about the harassment that happened to me 3 years ago. medyo may link kasi yung dream ko and yung issue na to sa buhay ko and doc Randy sees it and he uses the signs sa dream ko to help me confront it. for the very first time i had the courage to confront yung fear na matagal ko ng kinakalimutan and it felt good na during that moment i was on top of the situation and nung binalikan ko yung story na yun sa buhay ko narealize ko na dapat pala hinarap ko siya long time ago. after that talk nabawasan na yung takot na dinadala ko sa dibdib ko. as expected new challenge nanaman tong day na to for me. me, gem and jobelle were asked to facilitate the activity in the afternoon so ayon in the AM we discussed what to have in the afternoon and we came up with a meditating activity about reminiscing your past and viewing them as gone tomorrow. we came up with this activity to give emphasis on how important the present is. so ayon during the session ninenerbyos talaga ako kasi hindi ko alam kung magiging effective yung gagawin namin. jobelle gave the ice breaker and gem did the recap of the previous days activity ayon nung turn ko na my hands were all sweaty and cold but nung actual discussion medyo bumaba yung kaba ko especially nung naririnig ko na yung mga residents na nakikipag converse sa akin. at the end of the discussion i felt happy although may mga flaws kami sa activity i still felt happy kasi may natutunan ako nung araw na yun and yung mga naging conversation namin during the activity nag-iwan ng mark sa isip ko and they actually gave me a good lesson lalo na si _____ nung sinabi niya na kahit na may mga taong nagtatalk bad sayo you can always ignore them and be happy sa sarili mo. from that statement i was touched kasi ako pag may nagsasabi sa akin ng bad things affected ako agad so from her words i realize na may option ako not to feel bad so ayon for you ____ thanks very much.

whew! what a 2nd day grabe kami yung pinagready ni sir Al ng activity for the AM session haay! hindi ko alam yung gagawin ko upon hearing that kasi once again another first time for me sabi na nga ba everyday is challenging but infairness yung challenge was giving me more discovery about myself. that AM jat and i had a brain storming, nakakatuwa si jat kasi he is always packed up with ideas and because of that naiinfect din niya ako ng ideas. so after talking out our ideas we came up with an activity about present and future. the participants were asked to describe themselves today and what they want to be in the future. after that we asked them to list down the things they should do today to attain that future. at first hesitant ako na magapproach sa mga residents kasi natatakot pa ako na baka they wont participate but i was wrong kasi active pala sila and very welcoming sila sa activity na ipnresent namin. ayon! i was so happy kasi its our first time to facilitate an activity and hindi kami binigo ng mga residents doon so i look forward to giving them more good activities in the days ahead.

My Actual First Day

uhmm..ayon! the whole day went great..i was assigned in the AM session together with jat and noreen. at first medyo hectic agad yung dating nung araw kasi we were assigned to do an activity agad hehe! ayon! nung morning we were asked to do some cut outs for our design na gagamitin inside for the residents. we made cut outs nung topic namin na living in the here and now ayon medyo nataranta ako agad kasi hindi ako used to in making art designs lalo na pag letter cut outs pero in my surprise kaya ko pala gumawa ng ganun so i felt happy kasi it was my first time to try it so ayon! when we displayed it inside lalo ako naging happy kasi one guy complemented it maganda raw yung effect ng color parang reflectorize daw hehe! well moving on, that day we were assigned to do the ice breaker actually it was another challenge for me kasi hindi din ako used to doing that kasi nahihiya ako to act out funny in front of other people but it turned out na nakakatuwa pala gawin yung mga bagay na yun and i actually did enjoy. so overall, i can describe that day great kasi first land ko pa lang and then may natutunan ako agad. yung mga bagay na hindi ko nagagawa kaya ko din pala magawa lalo na kung may mga tao kang pinaglalaanan nung mga gagawin mo. from that day i think magiging challenging pa yung mga susunod but i look forward to it lalo na nung naramdaman ko na may nagcocomplement nung ginawa namin. tnx to _____ he was so appreciative and nagmark sa akin yung complement niya and i look forward to giving then more beautiful designs and games in the succeeding days.

me and gem came in at past 2pm..actually late kami nung orientation day so i kinda feel shy kasi baka maging pangit yung impression nung superior namin. So upon arriving mixed feelings na ako kasi natatakot ako na baka mapagalitan kami and at the same kabado kasi i dont know kung ano yung gagawin namin that day. So ayon, pagdating namin yung first batch ng practicumer from our school said that sasali daw nila kami sa activity nila for that afternoon kasi they will welcome us daw and at the same introduce na din daw nila kami sa residents. Upon hearing that i felt nervous and at the same time excited kasi curious talaga ako to meet yung mga people inside there. So ayon, when the session is about to start tapos sinabi ni sir Al na we will join them medyo naging uneasy ako kasi medyo scared ako na baka hindi maging maganda yung reaction nung mga residents sa amin. Upon entering pinaupo kami with the residents so ayon, at first i was uneasy kasi hindi ko alam kung ano yung magiging reaction nila towards us. Ayon! but during the whole session i see that yung ibang residents are very accomodating and friendly especially the females kasi they shaked hand with us and sinabi nila na they hope to see us again. after hearing those and after we part ways that day i felt positive kasi looking forward ako na yung mga susunod na araw na ilalagi namin doon will be challenging. Challenging in a way that magbubuild kami ng good relationship with the rest of people there.
